Facelift
The natural aging process
can cause facial wrinkling and increased sagging of the jowls
and the skin of the neck. Minor wrinkles of the forehead and
lips can be improved by non-surgical means, like Botox
or fillers such as Restylane, but major skin excess and
jowls require a surgical approach--a facelift.
I perform this operation in a hospital operating
room under local anesthesia with
sedation. The incision is begun behind the hairline above
the ear, continues in front of the ear, and curves around
behind it to end in the posterior scalp. Sometimes an additional
small incision is required behind the chin crease. I then
reposition or remove excess fat, redrape the skin, and remove
the excess. The procedure takes about three hours and I prefer
to keep my patients in the hospital
overnight so they can relax away from the cares of home.
During the recovery period, you will be moderately swollen and have some bruising for about a week, and should avoid strenuous activity and extensive sun exposure. Some of your sutures will be removed after three to five days, andthe remainder after seven to ten days.
If you would like more information about this operation, please call the office (502-216-3700) or e-mail me at info@drkavka.com and we will send you an informative brochure.
