Tummy Tuck
This operation is designed to deal with the loose, floppy abdominal skin and stretched out abdominal muscles often left over from weight loss or pregnancy. People with this problem may have difficulty getting properly fitting clothes, and may also suffer from frequent skin irritation and infections. A tummy tuck is not a weight loss operation, but the improvement in appearance and self confidence gained after this procedure stimulates many patients to take more interest in their life style and in their general health.
The operation is done under general
anesthesia and takes about three hours. Using a low transverse
incision usually from hip to hip, I remove the excess abdominal
skin, reposition the umbelicus, and tighten up any loosening
of the abdominal muscles. At the end of the procedure, you
will have on a snug abdominal binder for comfort and to decrease
postoperative swelling and fluid
accumulation. You will be kept overnight in the hospital,
and can usually go home the following day. Activity should
be limited for the first week, but you will not be bedridden.
If you would like further information, please call our office (502-216-3700) or e-mail me at info@drkavka.com and we will be happy to send you a detailed brochure about this procedure.
